Who we are

This notice explains how the Climate Energy and Livelihoods Initiative (CELI) handles personal information. Our registered office is 7 Abuja Lane,
D/Line,
Port Harcourt,
Rivers State,
500001, Nigeria. You can contact us about privacy at info@celi.org.ng.

What we collect

When you use our contact form or email us, we collect the information you choose to give us, such as your name, email address, phone number, organisation, and the content of your message.

We also collect limited, anonymous usage statistics through Google Analytics to understand how our website is used and to improve it. This includes information such as the pages visited, approximate region, and the type of device and browser. We use Google Analytics in a privacy-preserving, cookieless mode: no analytics or advertising cookies are stored on your device, and the data is aggregated so that it does not identify you.

How we use your information

We use the information you send us only to respond to your enquiry, to keep a record of our correspondence, and to manage our relationship with partners and supporters. We use the anonymous usage statistics only to measure and improve our website. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

We process the information you send us on the basis of your consent and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running the organisation.

Sharing

We do not share your personal information with third parties except service providers that help us operate, such as our email and website hosting providers, and our website analytics provider, Google (through Google Analytics), and only to the extent needed to provide those services. You can read how Google handles data at policies.google.com/privacy. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry records for up to 24 months from the date of your last contact with us, and then we delete them. We may keep records for longer where we have a legal or contractual reason to do so.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to withdraw your consent. To make a request, email info@celi.org.ng.

Cookies

This website does not set advertising cookies. Our analytics run in a cookieless mode by default, so no analytics cookies are stored on your device unless you choose to accept them.

On your first visit we show a short banner where you can Accept or Decline analytics. If you decline, or simply ignore it, analytics stay cookieless. If you accept, a single Google Analytics cookie is used to measure visits more accurately. We remember your choice on your device. To change it later, clear this site’s data in your browser and the banner will appear again.

Your browser’s “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signal is respected and treated as a decline, and you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
